Nurse Pleads Guilty to Stealing $45,000 From A Blind Patient’s Check Book

Loretta D. Davis, 66, of Joplin, MO, pleaded guilty to a charge of forgery in a plea deal with Prosecutors.

Davis wrote nearly 100 checks from her patient’s check book while she was working as an in-home health care nurse from June 9, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2014.

Davis had the authorization to write checks for the blind patient’s bills, but not for her own personal use.  Joplin either cashed the checks or deposited them into her own bank account.
