Dialysis Patients are Suffering in the Wake of Hurricane Harvery

The side effects of not having treatment are fluid overload, high potassium, muscles begin to malfunction, including the heart which leads to death.

Because of Hurricane Harvey DaVita Medical Center is not just treating their regular patients, but have opened their doors to anyone who needs dialysis. Unfortunately,  they are having a difficult time coping with the patients’ needs because they are so short staffed.

Nurses can’t get to work and are dealing with catastrophic issues in their personal lives, so there just aren’t enough nurses to do the job.

Some good samaritans have been assisting in the process of getting the patients and nurses to the Medical Center, by volunteering with their boats.

The wait for the people who can make it to the center is about four hours before they can begin their treatment.
