  • The board of nursing won’t advocate or negotiate with you. SO it’s never a good idea to give them anything to chew on. Not hiring an attorney could be the difference between doing 1-year probation or 5. There are attorneys that deal with only nurses, all day and that’s all they do. That is what you need in a situation like that.

  • Don’t tell them one more word. Don’t send them any more paperwork. Send it instead to an attorney or you’ll end up with a less than favorable decision. They’re a bunch of control freaks that ruin the lives on nurses every single day. I hate them all. They’re a bunch of people who are self-proclaimed the ones who determine the fate of so many…[Read more]

  • I’m sorry all this has happened to you. We are glad to see you found us. The first thing I will say is DO NOT TALK TO THE BOARD OF NURSING WITHOUT AN ATTORNEY. They are the nurse police and they love power. They don’t do not work for nurses, they work for the American people and they are there to nail you to the cross.

You have to make your…[Read more]

  • Hey,
We are very happy to have you join us. This is a common question and there isn’t just one answer. It depends on the nurse. If they viewed what you did to be egregious they will send the information the Office of the Inspector General and you won’t be able to work for anyone who accepts Medicare and/or Medicaid.

If you are in an alternative…[Read more]

  • Hey,
Glad to have you in our group. That’s a tough one. It really depends on a few things. If you the board of nursing has sent your information to the Office of the Inspector General you can’t work for anyone who accepts Medicare or Medicaid. Which is just about every facility there is.
You need to check to see if you’re on their list.

  • Hello,
Welcome to the group. YOu’ll find a lot of knowledgeable nurses here. Sorry that you’re going through probation. There are some facilities that will hire you. I suggest you never give up and send your resume to everyone you can.

Good luck to you and keep us posted

Tetanus shots hurt a lot. As long as you used proper technique you should be fine. I remember when I was about to take my finals I had to have a tetanus shot and I was also getting a flu shot. The nurse told me that the Tetanus shot would hurt and asked me which arm I wanted it in. I am right handed, so I told her to please make sure that you put…[Read more]

  • Thank you, everyone, for your feedback. This is just scary because my license is my lifeline and I cant end up homeless with a family to support. If there are any negative repercussions against me I will hire an attorney and also sue the individual that started all this drama

  • Hi,

First of all, don’t panic. I know this must be a scary situation for you but it will all work out. If you are truly not guilty of diverting narcotics then they will have to tell you what evidence they have on you before they discipline your license. The proceedings are different in every state.

It seems strange that your employer suspended…[Read more]

  • I just have a question for anyone that can give me any feedback. So there is a nurse I work with spreading nasty rumors about me saying that I have diverted narcotics and I have been suspended with no evidence. I have not taken any meds for my own personal use! And now the state has been contacted. I’m pissed! If my documentation is all there the…[Read more]

  • When you’re in the Affinity program they can ask you to test for various tests as they decide and this can be quite confusing to new participants. They will usually do a regular one and then throw in a different one here and there that is usually a little more expensive.

If they ask you to do a hair screen though, it’s usually because they sus…[Read more]
